Moulds

We have recently received enquiries regarding moulds sent to Apecs for new orders and how they would be processed. The following information is given to address these queries.

We will certainly accept existing moulds you may own and produce castings from them subject to the following:

Selection of customers moulds

horizontal rule

As we do not have control of the total process, (i.e. using moulds not of our making) we cannot give the same assurance of quality as we otherwise would.

Most moulds supplied to us in this way present no problems but, sight unseen, we cannot determine the production suitability.

An increased labour charge will only apply if the mould in question requires extra work to achieve good waxes. In such instances we have found that the best solution is for a remould by Apecs, treated as a new mould for costing purposes.

Our current standard moulding fee is $18.00 plus GST. For ownership of the mould (produced by Apecs) to transfer to you, an additional fee of $15.00 is payable. Thus the total mould ownership cost is $33.00 plus GST.

With all moulds accepted we reserve the right to determine their suitability for production use and reject them (returning them to you unless you request otherwise) if we deem them unsuitable by our standards.

You will retain full ownership of:

bulletA) any moulds sent to us
bulletB) any moulds made as contract purchase moulds by Apecs from master patterns supplied by you.

The mould reference number is linked to your customer records on our database for ready identification of your right to the exclusive use of the design.

Where moulds are supplied and intended to remain with Apecs for ongoing production use we prefer to incorporate them into our standard number coding, with your agreement. Moulds can be stored at Apecs in this way, but our reserves of storage are intended for moulds on which there will be production activity. Inactive moulds, with no activity, over say an 18-month period, would be returned to you at postage cost.

If there are any questions on your moulds which you would like answered, please contact us.
